We Provide a Full Range of Oklahoma Wildlife Removal Services
Most of the calls we get are because homeowners hear animals scurrying around inside the attic or walls. Most of the damage inside a houes or attic is unseen. Rodents like squirrels, mice, and rats often chew on electrical wires.
Wildlife such as raccoons, bats, birds, opossums, and rats spread several diseases that humans can and do catch, such as Histoplasmosis, Salmonella, Leptospirosis and more. Many critters leave droppings and urine in an attic or cause mold or odor problems.
We also handle animals outside the house. It could be a critter that has dug a large hole next to your house, or a raccoon in your garbage cans, an opossum that is stealing pet food, or a skunk living under your deck, causing an odor problem. Some animals destroy your garden or landscaping. Or perhaps you are simply scared of snakes. Whatever
the problem is, our wildlife experts can remove the source of the problem, and prevent it from happening again. We are not a Oklahoma City extermination company, nor pest control. We are dedicated Oklahoma City wildlife control experts.

The Eastern Gray Squirrel And Human Contact
Eastern Gray Squirrels are excellent climbers that are from the rodent family, and as their name suggests they are generally gray in
color, although this can sometimes range to brown, and there are even some black varieties. These squirrels are small animals that are
exceptional climbers, and the long lean body is covered in short hair, but the large bushy tail is probably the most significant identifying
feature.
The Dangers That Squirrels Can Pose To Humans
One of the most problematic areas of squirrel behavior will become apparent if they move into a human home. They will usually get in by
gnawing their way through a wooden board or squeeze in through an existing Oklahoma City rodent extermination hole. Their constantly growing teeth means that eastern gray
squirrels will always be looking for something to gnaw, and if they are in a human home then cables, wooden beams and pipes are likely to
be affected. They can also cause a lot of trouble because of their likelihood to urinate and defecate around their nest, which will contaminate
the insulation of an attic space.
In Oklahoma City raccoon removal terms of the diseases and parasites that squirrels will carry, they aren’t particularly dangerous to humans any more than other wild animals.
The main issues for squirrels are fibromatosis and squirrel pox, and both of these conditions are unable to be transferred to humans. They will
often be hosts to botfly larvae, and it is theoretically possible for these larvae to take a human host, but there are no documented Oklahoma City bat removal cases to show this.
Rabies is very rare in squirrels.
The eastern gray squirrels will often fight each other over territory, and they are very fast animals. However, they will usually look for an
escape route if confronted by a human, and can swiftly scamper up a tree or drainpipe to get away. They do have sharp teeth and claws, so can deliver
a bite or scratch that would be quite painful.
Keeping Squirrels As Pets
There are some people who will keep squirrels as pets, and there are many animals that have been trained to perform tricks and to perform.
As a rule they do not make for particularly good pets, and this is especially the case for animals that have been captured or trapped. The eastern
gray squirrel is generally active in the morning and the evening, but will usually sleep in the warmest part of the day.
Like many animals they will mark their territory with urine and feces, and house training can be a long process. They are also likely to climb and
scratch around the property, so do not generally make for good house pets. They do get used to humans, but it is important to give them plenty of
things to climb and the opportunity to gnaw regularly, otherwise they can be very destructive in a home.
Another factor that is important to consider when thinking about keeping a squirrel as a pet is that they can become aggressive during the mating
season. Many adult squirrels can also be unpredictable in terms of their behavior.
For those who are still keen to keep a squirrel as a pet, it is important to check if it is legal in your state. They will usually react best to
being kept outdoors in a large covered Oklahoma City rat control pen that has been well sealed to ensure they cannot escape. Having many items and objects to climb will provide
plenty of exercise for the squirrels, and having wood to gnaw will also be important to make sure that their teeth do not grow too much and become a problem.
